Velina Tchakarova, M.A. is head of Institute at the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy (AIES) in Vienna. Holds a M.A. in political science/ political science of South Asia from the University of Heidelberg and a B.A. in IR from the University of World and National Economy in Sofia. Her work includes research, consulting and lectures on the global system transformation and geostrategy of global actors, particularly the EU's role in Eastern Europe. She participates in the Scenario Monitoring Team at the Austrian Ministry of Defence on global system developments and in simulation games at Wikistrat. Takes part in conferences, workshops and internal expert meetings on global system transformation, geostrategy, global order and actors as well as the EU policy in Eastern Europe.

It is our objective to broaden the TDHJ reader’s horizon with open-minded articles and forward-looking publications as well as an exchange of opinions on recent topics such as geopolitics, security and defence policy that create new impulses for political advising and strategy.
